Kane and Mbappe score and assist the most in Europe

  • Shining in the second leg of the Round of 16, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe have surged ahead to lead the race for the Champions League Golden Boot, simultaneously sharing the top spot in the list of players with the most goals in Europe this season.

    In the match against Lazio at the Allianz Arena this morning, Bayern Munich won 3-0. The two goal scorers for the Bavarians were Kane (brace) and Muller.

    Including his two goals against the Italian opponents, Kane has now scored 6 goals in the Champions League this season. Therefore, the English international has surpassed Hojlund (M.U), Griezmann (Atletico), Morata (Atletico), Haaland (Man City), and Galeno (Porto), the five players who also scored 5 goals, to climb to the top spot in the top scorers list of the UCL 2023-24 season alongside Mbappe.

    Similarly, Mbappe also scored 2 goals in the second leg of the Round of 16 in the prestigious European competition. Including his two goals against Sociedad this morning, the French national team captain has now scored 6 goals in the 2023-24 Champions League.

    Not only do Kane and Mbappe share the lead in the top scorers list in the Champions League, but they also sit atop the list of players contributing to the most goals in all competitions in the top 5 European leagues (England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France). Specifically, Kane and Mbappe have directly contributed to 41 goals (goals + assists) since the start of the current campaign.

    According to statistics, Kane has scored 33 goals and provided 8 assists in 33 matches for Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Mbappe has scored 34 goals and provided 7 assists for PSG in 34 matches.

    Currently, Kane and Mbappe are leading the race for the Golden Boot in their respective leagues (Bundesliga and Ligue 1). In the European Golden Shoe race, with 21 goals in Ligue 1, Mbappe ranks third behind Kane (27 goals in the Bundesliga) and Lautaro Martínez (23 goals in Serie A).
